NAR Triennial Code of Ethics Requirement

Current Cycle: January 1st, 2022 to December 31st, 2024

Existing REALTOR® members must complete 2.5 hours of ethics training, meeting specific learning objectives and criteria, within three-year cycles in order to maintain REALTOR® membership with the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).

REALTORS® who have joined the association after January 1, 2022 – AND – have completed the required New Member Code of Ethics training, are seen as having fulfilled this training requirement. Members who have not met the Code of Ethics requirement must complete the training by December 31, 2024, in order to continue their membership with the Association.

Failure to complete the required periodic ethics training shall be considered a violation of membership duties; for which, REALTOR® membership shall be suspended until such time as the required training has been completed.

Two options are available for completing Code of Ethics:

  • The online program offered through NAR can be accessed by clicking here. Login information for the NAR website: Upon applying for membership, you were assigned a National REALTOR® Database System ID. This is commonly referred to as your NRDS ID. You will need this in order to create an account and register for the online course.
  • The in-class program is approximately 3 hours in length and does provide you with CE credit in addition to fulfilling the new membership responsibilities. For a list of dates and to register, please click here.

The Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) defines the bylaws by which REALTORS® must oblige in both performance and service.

Ethics Training in Cobb REALTORS® Office

Here at Cobb REALTORS® we offer your COE course in-house. Our course follows the approved training outline and course materials directly which may be accessed online via the link below. Once completed, please provide the following to the Association: Course title, course completion date, list of attendees, and the real estate license numbers of the attendees. You may send an email to the Membership Department with this information.

C2EX is a Code of Ethics Training Equivalency

Commitment to Excellence (C2EX) from the National Association of REALTORS® empowers REALTORS® to evaluate, enhance and showcase their highest levels of professionalism. It’s not a course, class or designation—it’s an Endorsement that REALTORS® can promote when serving clients and other REALTORS®. Members who complete the entire program and earn the C2EX endorsement will satisfy the Code of Ethics training requirement. Please Note: Members without a NAR Designation or Certification are required to earn one to complete C2EX. Fees may apply for a NAR Designation or Certification.

NAR REALTOR® Ethics Training Course

This is an NAR-developed online course allowing you to stop and restart the course at your convenience within a 30-day time period. Successful completion is recorded in the National REALTORS® Database System (NRDS) and satisfies a member’s Code of Ethics training requirement.

CE credit is only given for PAID COE courses. If you are wanting CE credit hours you MUST take a PAID course.
